Tristan and I were in a number of classes together at school, were in the Air Training Corps (Air Force Cadets) together, where we both made the rank of Cadet Under Officer, and were both in the Napoleonic Wargaming Society.
It has been really nice reconnecting with someone I haven't seen for over 30 years (1982 was the last time we were together); what has been the nicest about it has been that we have been talking about ourselves, and getting to know each other, rather than simply reminiscing about our school days.
On opening the door, Tristan's question was "So, what's the protocol after 30 years - a handshake or a hug?" We agreed a hug was appropriate.
Tristan has a wonderful 3 1/2 year old son, Callan, who he is bringing up on his own. Callan is a marvellous young boy, and a testament to the skills of Tristan as a single father.
