Hoogstraten is 120km almost due south of Amsterdam. I took the train to Breda, just north of Hoogstraten, which takes about 70 minutes on the train, and runs regularly (twice every hour, which is quite handy); another short local train ride to Breda Prinsenbeek and Carolien picked me up from there and took me to her home. It's nice to be in a house with a garden, in a small, quiet and peaceful village.
My thinking is that I will probably just take it very easy tomorrow, as a day to relax and recharge.
The town is named after the hoge straat or ’high road’ – a military highway that linked the old towns of Antwerp and 's-Hertogenbosch .
As an aside, I'm now into my second-last country on the continental part of this trip, and it's now only four days until I meet Kim in Paris - I'm looking forward to that, immensely.
And that is all for today - a nice, simple day.
